"Musts" For Volunteer Applications

When designing your volunteer applications, make sure to include a request for references - THEN CHECK THEM OUT! When potential volunteers apply to work with children or the elderly, request a police background check.* Going too far? Think again!

Just one tragic encounter between a child and a volunteer can result in years of pain for the child and for your mission's reputation. Your mission, volunteer coordinator and other staff may also be considered liable.

Some missions have already experienced child molesting, food stamp fraud and more by not checking out their volunteers.

*Always have your mission's attorney approve your volunteer application before printing.
